7 Tips for Saving Money

saving money

  1. Make use of the library:

Instead of buying books, movies and music cds visit your local library. Most Public libraries nowadays carry not only a wide assortment of books but also dvds and cds you can borrow for free. There are also a number of free workshops and other events held at the library all year through. Regularly check your newspapers or library website for upcoming events.

  1. Stop buying items at every sale:

You may think that you are saving when you shop during every sale event but this might not always be the case. If you bought an item that you did not really need in the first place, you cannot say you saved. You actually spent money (the cost of the item) which you could have invested for the future.

  1. Pack your lunch:

Price of meals at most food outlets has gone up considerably. Packing your lunch on most days can save you quite a few dollars each month. Not only will you save cash but in most cases your meals will be much healthier than fast food outlets: this can save on medical bills in the long run.

  1. Carpool:

Instead of driving to work every day, consider carpooling with a friend or family member. You can save money on gas as well as daily wear and tear of your vehicle.

  1. Sell stuff you do not need:

Many of us have lots of items at home that we may not be using. Maybe it is that gym equipment that we never got around to using or movies and music that are sitting collecting dust. Through the power of social media we can have a free virtual store where we can sell the stuff that are cluttering our space and at the same time generate extra income.

  1. Make a grocery list before going to the supermarket:

Writing up a grocery list before heading to the supermarket will ensure not buying items that you do not need once you stick to the items on the list.

  1. Turn your hobbies into $$$:

Many of us have skills or talents that we enjoy doing. Maybe it is photography, tutoring, web design, baking or sewing. Whatever your talent, there is always someone who is in need of those services and are willing to pay. Not only will you get to do something you have a passion for but also get paid in the process.

It is said that ” you shall have, whatever you say”. This is a principle that is universal and goes beyond just belief or positive thinking. It is only when we declare God’s word in our lives that we bring into manifestation the fruit of those words.

Why not start and end each day with these positive affirmations below and see them come alive in your life. Life and death are in the power of your tongue, I urge you to speak life. Be blessed.

I am the head and not the tail

I am above and not beneath

I am blessed coming in and blessed going out

I am blessed in the country and blessed in the city

The yields of my income increases

The blessings of the Lord come upon me and even overtake me

Whatsoever I put my hand to do it prospers

God is my provider

I walk in divine health because by the stripes of Jesus Christ I am healed

I have favour in the eyes of God and in the eyes of man

God is my promoter

No weapon formed against me shall prosper and all those who rise up against me shall fall

The plans of the wicked against me shall come to nothing

I am seated with Jesus Christ in heavenly places

I walk by faith and not by sight

For without Faith it is impossible to please God, for those who come to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him

I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me

My help comes from God, the maker of Heaven and Earth

It is said faith is believing and acting on what you believe. We all need faith to accomplish our dreams and to live our lives without fear of the present or future.

Many times in life we may face difficult situations that can cause us to second guess our vision and plans for our lives- It may be an illness, uncertainty in our jobs and even a global recession. These are the times that we need to stand boldly and declare all that God has for us. We are not on this planet by accident but by divine appointment. The Bible states that God knows us by name and we are engraved on the palm of his hand.

We are a blessed people, a royal priesthood sanctioned by the one who created us to bless others. How can we bless others when we are sick, discouraged, poor or broken? We need to stop doubting ourselves and start declaring God’s word over our lives.

When we say something over and over we actually begin to believe what we declare. The words that we speak go out to the universe and accomplishes what we state, so if we keep speaking negativity all the time that is what we will experience. If however we speak blessings upon our lives that is what we will have. We should start and end each day with the promises of God on our lips.

Each day declare that:

I am blessed.

I am healthy and walk in divine health.

I have favour in the eyes of God and the eyes of man.

God is my promoter and my provider and no matter what is going on in the world today I will overcome it.

I am blessed in my family life, my job and my finances.

As you do this each day see how your life is transformed and watch the blessings of God flow in every area of your existence. Be blessed!

Loving ourselves is one of the greatest things we can aspire to. It is impossible to follow the great command, to love our neighbour as ourselves, if we do not practice self-love.

If we truly love ourselves, it is only then can we extend that love to others. Many of us have difficulty in understanding this concept. We think that loving ourselves is being selfish and that we should consider the needs of others before our own. This is further from the truth.

If we practice self-love we will take care of our physical, mental and spiritual state. Physically, this could mean eating healthy and exercising- taking care of our bodies. Mentally and spiritually we can follow lifelong learning and meditating on uplifting material- being mentally and spiritually balanced. If we are physically well, then we will have the strength and energy to minister to the needs of others. Likewise when we are mentally and spiritually at our optimum we are able to translate this to the emotional and spiritual well-being of others.

We can only love others to the extent that we love ourselves. Be blessed.

An Attitude of Gratitude

If we as humans would develop an attitude of being grateful, for all the good things in our life, we would be a much happier society. It is easier for us to complain all the time when something goes wrong. Why not be grateful for all the good that we are experiencing each day?

We should start our day expressing thankfulness for the air we breathe, being able to live one more day, for our families and the jobs we have. Many of us have a home to live in and food on our tables. Maybe we do not have the biggest house or the fanciest car but does that really matter in the scheme of things? – being contented at the place we are in our lives is directly related to the gratitude we feel. I am not saying that it is bad to want nice things but the problem occurs when things have us.

Gratitude not only gives us a feeling of peace but it does wonders to our physical bodies. We feel energised and free from stress by not allowing minute situations to disturb us. We are able to spend our moments enjoying life rather than focusing on the negatives.

I dare you today to develop that attitude of being grateful and experience that peace of mind and joy that comes from being thankful. Be blessed.

New Beginnings

Sometimes in life we allow situations and circumstances in our past to determine our future. We tell our selves that just because we were unsuccessful in a certain area we are therefore not good enough. Maybe we grew up in poverty, had a bad childhood or came out of a bad relationship- this does not mean we are failures.  You see “the things that are seen are subject to change.”

Don’t allow your setbacks to keep you in a victim mentality. Say to yourself:  ” I am a victor not a victim”.  In life we all will face challenging issues; it’s how you view these challenges that will determine your outcome. When a door closes you should have the mind set that situation was not meant for you. There is something better in store for you and another door with new opportunities will come your way.

See life as a learning experience where we are growing and evolving as we face good and bad times. Do not give up on your dreams- life is like a race that we are running , we do not know how far we are truly from the finish line but if we keep pushing  forward without giving up we will reap the reward.

Also remember doubt and worry cannot change your situation. It only adds stress and anxiety to your life. So my friends, remember that every day is a new day, a new day for new beginnings and new victories. Be blessed.
